Boot Camp for the Time Challenged Part 3

How did it go last week? Were you able to set a schedule and keep it or at least come close? Remember part one of boot camp? Set priorities. In order for change to happen it must be important to you. Don’t give up. Keep tying. You can make a difference one step at a time.

I don’t know about anyone else, but if I’m surrounded by clutter I can’t concentrate. Clutter drives me nuts! For me it’s safe to say an uncluttered house flows better than a cluttered. Yes it takes time to de-clutter, but there are three fast and easy things you can do today to help cut down on time used and messes.

1. Take care of the mail the day it arrives. This means go through each piece and recycle junk on the spot. Depending on your system either set the bills aside for bill paying day or pay on the spot. I have a large plastic container that all my paid bills and important papers get tossed into until tax season. This works for me, but may not be best for everyone.

2. Before bed take five minutes to pick up the clutter. If there are shoes out, put them away. At my house it’s always dishes being left behind. Before the lights go out I try to make sure I do a quick look for cups and plates that my kids may have forgotten. Of course ideally they would take care of their own mess before going to bed.

3. Clean in short spurts. Only have five minutes? Empty the dishwasher or hand wash the breakfast dishes. Yes this canĀ  be done in five minutes. Try taking out the garbage or wipe down the bathroom counter and collect dirty towels. Disinfecting wipes are quick and easy to use and cut down on time needed to clean.

I hope these little tips help carve out a few more minutes in your day. What tips do you have for the other readers? I’m always interested in time saving strategies.

Now it’s your turn. Do you have any tips to share?

Next week is the final installment of Boot Camp. I hope you’ll check back for the conclusion.
