Threat of Darkness
A while back I told you about book one in the Defenders series by Valerie Hansen. Book two, Threat of Darkness revisits the small town of Serentiy and Nurse Samantha Rochard. Abused as a child, Samantha has made it her life goal to help abused children. This desire gets her into more messes than you’d expect. When a young man brings in a small child that ingested his illegal drugs Samantha’s world is shaken. Someone believes the man passed off a package to her and they will stop at nothing to get it back. To complicate matters her former boyfriend Detective John Waltham has come back to town, and he…

The Wonder of Your Love
I didn’t want The Wonder of Your Love to end. Beth Wiseman’s latest installment to A Land of Canaan series entertained me and drew me into her story world. New mom, Katie Ann Stoltzfus, lives in a small Amish community surrounded by her late husband’s family. Her infant son is her life, and she’s thrilled to be a mother even if she is almost old enough to be her son’s grandmother. Eli Detweiler comes to Canaan to attend a wedding and visit family. He raised six kids on his own because his wife died while giving birth and he’s looking forward to the next phase in his life. His dream…

Always the Designer Never the Bride
Sandra D. Bricker delivers another delightful romance in the third book of what I’ve dubbed the Tanglewood Brides Series but in reality it’s the Emma Ray Creation series. Always the Designer Never the Bride features Audrey Regan a wedding dress designer on her last thread. Audrey returns to Atlanta and the Tanglewood Inn to be in her best friend’s wedding and fears the dress she designed for her friend may be her last creation unless she can get a celebrity client. This book includes all the characters from the other books in the series which made it a little confusing for this name challenged reader, but eventually I was able…

Injustice For All
Although Injustice For All, by Robin Caroll is a Suspense and not a romance I LOVED it. There was just enough romance to satisfy me and the story was so well written it was hard to put down. If you’re a fan of Dee Henderson I think you’d enjoy this book. Incidentally Dee has a new book coming out this fall.:) When Remington Ryatt witnesses the murder of her godfather at the hand of two FBI agents she flees. She knows these men and suspects they’d stop at nothing to silence her. She takes the emergency money her godfather keeps in the house and runs creating a new identity for herself…

Reunited Hearts
Love Inspired romance, Reunited Hearts, by Ruth Logan Herne is a simple story of love, forgiveness, and hope. Alyssa Langley returns home to help with the family business while her dad recovers from a heart attack. She’s been gone for twelve years and carries a load of guilt about past choices she made. After a stellar military career Trent Michaels moves back to his home town in the hope of stimulating the local economy by generating military contracts. But the surprise that awaits him is beyond imagination when he comes face-to-face with the son he didn’t know he had. Reunited Hearts, is a good reminder that with God all things…

Courting Miss Amsel
Historical romance, Courting Miss Amsel, is the first book I’ve read by Kim Vogel Sawyer. I really enjoyed the pacing of this entertaining story and almost read the entire 346 pages in one day. At twenty-eight, Edythe Amsel, the new schoolmarm, craves the life of a single career woman. But life as a school teacher isn’t exactly all she expected. Joel Townsend is raising his two nephews after their parents are killed in an accident. Although he’s not looking for a wife, the new schoolmarm has caught his attention. But Edythe makes it clear that she is not interested in a ready-made family. Courting Miss Amsel follows Edythe’s first year…

Nightwatch
Romantic Suspense, Nightwatch by Valerie Hansen grabbed me from the opening line. “Boom!” How great is that? I had to keep reading to see what had happened and then I was hooked. Fire captain Mitch Andrews saves three children from a raging fire, but is unable to save their parents. This is personal for him as these people were his friends. The kids even call him Uncle Mitch. Foster mother Jill Kirkpatrick is taking care of the children whose parents were killed by a bomb. When the youngest goes missing from her crib, best friends Jill and Mitch join forces to protect the children and in the process discover what…

Highland Sanctuary
Highland Sanctuary by Jennifer Hudson Taylor had me hooked from page one. I didn’t know this about myself until recently, but I love books set in Scotland back in the 1400’s. This is the third book I’ve read set in time period and I can’t get enough of them. At birth Serena Boyd’s life took a sad turn when her father discovered she had fits (seizures) and declared she was demon possessed. From that point on Serena and her mother live in fear that people will discover her ailment. They escape her father and flee to the village of misfits where people with abnormalities are accepted. Gavin MacKenzie and his…

Race Against Time
Christy Barriett’s new romantic suspense Race Against Time has the perfect balance of romance and suspense. A serial killer is loose in a small Virginia town and he is fixated on widowed, single mother Madison Jacobs. But fortunately Police Detective Brody Philips was jogging by her house at just the right moment to save her life. Detective Philips thought he left big city crime behind him when he moved to York County, but when someone tries to kill his beautiful neighbor he realizes no place is safe from crime. From the start this book held my attention and I zoomed through it in two days. I would’ve finished Race Against…
