Welcome to 2020

I hope your year has begun well. I tend to not put too much emphasis on a new year, but this year it finally occurred to me why everyone else does–it’s a fresh start, a new beginning. New beginnings are such a gift!

I don’t have a word for the year, and I don’t make resolutions. That’s not to say others shouldn’t it’s simply not my thing. I do however, think about what I’d like to accomplish on a professional level. I am driven by what I accomplish on a day to day level, so it makes sense that I would be this way when I look at the year ahead.

I will finish up the fourth book in my Librarian Sleuth series by today and send it off to my publisher–I think I’m turning it in two months early–I was never given a deadline in writing, and I have a horrible memory, so I honestly don’t know when the book is due. I figured I just better get it done and move on to my next project regardless of the real due date.

I’ve been having an internal debate about what I will work on next. This past year I published Edge of Truth, a romantic suspense I wrote more than a decade ago. It was originally intended to be a standalone novel, but the market has shifted and readers want series. My problem is, I have no idea what to write.

I started another series in 2019 that I have yet to publish because I want to do a rapid release of the series. From what I’ve observed, readers like to go from one book to the next rather quickly. This series is also romantic suspense and a spin off from my Brides of Seattle series. The books are in my comfort zone word count rather than the longer word count that Edge of Truth is.

All this to say, I’m not sure what’s in store for my writing life at the time I’m working on this post.

The book I’m sending off to my publisher will release in November unless the release date gets moved up–this happens to at least half of my books since I generally turn them in early.

Do you read my books? I ask not out of vanity, but rather curiosity about what you would like to see me write and publish next. After all I write for my readers. 🙂
