Why I Write Christian Romance by Kimberly Rose Johnson

A friend recently asked me why I write Christian romance. She was in the process of writing a blog post and asking the question to several writers in this genre. I thought you might be interested in my answer. This is exactly what I sent her.

I write Christian romance because I love to read Christian romance. I was a reader long before I was a writer.
In the beginning of my career I attempted to write a sweet romance and failed. I didn’t know how to take God out of the equation. I can’t imagine trying to face life’s trials without Him.
Since that time, I’ve managed to write one sweet romance. I didn’t set out to do that when I agreed to be in an indie collection, but the leader later said she wanted the books to reach a wider audience and to please make them sweet rather than Christian. That being said, it’s much easier for me to write Christian romance than sweet because He is apart of who I am and who I am comes out in my books.

Since you are reading this blog, I will assume you read Christian romance. I’m curious why do you read it and what your favorite genre in Christian romance is. I write contemporary Christian romance as well as romantic mystery, and I will soon be published in romantic suspense.
